2012 Junior League Training Squad (with additions) - pdf   (updated 24th April)

An initial Squad has now been selected based on our swimmer rankings.  As originally announced 10/11/12 year olds were selected on their 50m times.  We had hoped to use 25m times for the 9 year olds but found that many swimmers hadn't got 25m times or only had 'Relay Splits' so we have used 33.33m times initially.

For each event the fastest swimmer is highlighted in [RED], Freestyle Relay swimmers in [GREEN] and those that are currently close to the team on time in [ORANGE]. Although this is currently how things stand it is sure to change between now and the last practice gala at Stratford on the 18th Feb so no-one should feel they are out of contention with the 1st round in April and the last one at the end of June, the team never stays the same from one gala to the next.

In this league there are two relays per age group, one Freestyle and one medley.  It is very important that swimmers work on their freestyle all the time.  Often teams are picked for Individual swims and Freestyle Relays before Medley Relays and as swimmers progress the majority of their training will be freestyle.

The most important thing for all swimmers is to train as often and as well as they can and to race as frequently as possible.  This Initial Squad is not a closed list, swimmers will move in (and maybe out) over the next few months, so if you want get in the team and get an individual swim make sure you train as well as you can and try and improve your technique and skills at every opportunity.
