Young Volunteers Project
The West Midland region has established a project to get young people to
help within its swimming clubs. The Young Volunteers Project
offers a programme of courses such as the Poolside Helper course, a
timekeeper course, a young aquatic organiser award and also a team
manager training course. All designed to encourage volunteering
within a swimming club. Details are in this
leaflet, and should you wish to enrol on the programme, please fill
in your details and then return it to me by Friday 22nd January at the
latest. I will then collate the registration forms and forward
them together and then ideally all the Stratford Sharks volunteers can
attend the training courses together. My understanding is that you do
not have to commit to attending all the courses, but you are encouraged
to attend all those that you are able to. As the leaflet details,
once you have registered they send you the details to be able to book
onto the relevant courses.
This is an ideal opportunity as the places are funded by the region
rather than the swimming club or the individual. In addition to that it
is an ideal opportunity for those wanting to gain extra qualifications
particularly within the P.E. environment and/or those undertaking Duke
Of Edinburgh Awards, or just to further your experience.
Karen Walker.
