EMMA BEXSON
Many within the Club will by now have heard that Emma Bexson is
currently in the Walsgrave Hospital,
Coventry
following a serious accident which happened whilst she was training on
her bicycle. Emma has been a masters swimmer and triathlete with the
club for some time regularly competing at the highest level in triathlon
competitions. Emma unfortunately suffered very serious spinal injuries
as a result of the accident and faces a very long period of recovery in
hospital. Emma’s family have asked that her friends from the Club do
make regular visits at various times and days so that she is not left
with no-one visiting. The family have created a website
http://www.visitemma.moonfruit.com which if you register enables
messages to be left and access to a diary to book visiting times. Emma
does have a bedside phone that she can be called on, tel: 0708 133 2273
(although please note that this is a premium number and is not cheap,
especially from mobiles, so be warned). Emma has already advised
us that she really appreciates the messages, calls and visits.
We all send Emma our
best wishes in her recovery. Please keep Emma in your thoughts and
prayers at this time.

Chairman

HELP WANTED - TRAINING OPPORTUNITY
The
Poolside Helper Course is ideal for people who already
volunteer but who cannot commit to the level one courses, but also those
new to the swimming teaching/coaching environment and maybe keen to
start off on the ladder of aquatic training / qualifications. The
course equips you with the basic knowledge to become more confident and
proficient in your role under the guidance of fully qualified
teachers/coaches to further benefit the swimmers you are instructing.
The course is being held by Stratford Sharks at Stratford Leisure
Centre spread over the three evenings of the 8th, 9th and 23rd
July. The course duration is approximately eight hours with no
examination. Theory work of around 4 hours, and practical work of
helping on poolside teaching/coaching for around 4 hours.
Stratford Sharks will pay the course fees of those volunteers that are
already helping within the club on a regular basis, but we also welcome
applications from anyone who would like to attend and fees maybe
subsequently refunded should you then volunteer with us. Further
details and the
application form are provided, but should you have any queries, or
to inform me that you are applying for a place please contact Karen
