On the first weekend of the Warwickshire County Swimming Championships at Coventry a team of Stratford Sharks had a good opening day with Lawrie Mills winning the 1500m freestyle and Emma White the 200m Breaststroke. Megan Stanley was second in the 11/12yr girls 200m Breaststroke and Eve Morley third in the 13yr age group. Josh Newman smashed his long course PB to get second in the 12yr boys 100m Butterfly and a team of Megan Stanley, Grace Wright, Emily Key and Emma White got a great third place in the 11-16yr 200m Medley Relay.

  The second weekend saw more success for the Sharks with Emma White winning the overall 50m Breaststroke and Megan Stanley the 11/12yr age group. Lawrie Mills laid claim to the other distance freestyle title winning the 800m with an excellent swim.

  Claire Bassinder was third in the 50m Breaststroke with Becky Tame third in the 13yr age group. There were lots of excellent swims from the many juniors, most of whom were competing in their first championships in a 50m pool. With 1 weekend to go there have been 83 PB’s, 9 club records, 12 Midland District times and 2 national qualifying times.
