The Stratford Sharks Junior League Team consolidated their mid table position with another good performance in the 1st division of the Nuneaton Junior League. Missing a number of older swimmers the team battled to a creditable 4th place at Worcester and on a night of close races could have snatched third.

  Individual wins were again hard to come by but Lucy Castle in the 10yr girls 50m freestyle setting a club record, Ed Caswell in the 10yr boys 50m breaststroke and Jonathon Witchard in the 11yr boys 50m butterfly all hit the mark. Second places were more plentiful with Bryonie Owen in the 9yr girls 25m butterfly, Frances Goss 12yr girls 50m freestyle, Josh Martindale 9yr boys 25m freestyle, Sian Morris & Matt Newman in the 10yrs 25m butterfly and Jonathon Witchard again in the 11yr boys 50m freestyle all giving a big lift to the team. Some important second places were also earned in the relays, Ieuan Owen, Matt Bailey, Josh Martindale & Alex Bowen in the 9yr boys Medley. Kelly Greener, Sian Morris, Megan Pashley & Lucy Castle in the 10yr girls freestyle relay and Matt Newman, Andrew Morley, Sandy Forysiak & Ed Caswell in the 10yr boys freestyle relay.

  There were plenty of important third places that helped consolidate the teams position on the night, Charlotte Stephenson 9yr girls 25m breaststroke, Lucy Tame 11yr girls 50m backstroke, Josh Martindale 9yr boys 25m butterfly, Jonathan Witchard again 12yr boys 50m freestyle, Lucy Castle 10yr girls 50m backstroke and 9yr boys freestyle relay team and 9yr girls medley relay team of Molly Wright, Charlotte Stephenson, Bryonie Owen & Harriet Green.

  Everyone swam well on the night with a good team spirit helping to lift swimmers and we can look forward to the third round with the promise of more good performances to come.
