Stratford Sharks sent a strong team of younger swimmers to the Ron Walker Trophy Gala at Nuneaton on Saturday night and came away with a very strong second place just be behind a strong Nuneaton team.

  Leading the way with two wins to his name was Matt Newman who won the 10yr Boys 25m freestyle and butterfly races and was part of the winning team for 10yr boys freestyle relay along with Ed Caswell, Josh Martindale and Alex Callaghan. Ed Caswell also won the 10yr boys 25m breaststroke and was second in the backstroke. Josh Martindale won the 9yr boys 25m freestyle and was second in the butterfly. Other wins went to Josh Walker swimming up an age group in the 12yr boys 50m butterfly, Charlotte Stephenson in the 9yr girls 25m breaststroke, Molly Wright in the 9yr girls 25m backstroke and Becky Tame in the 13yr girls 50m breaststroke.

  Excellent second places went to Lucy Castle, Lucy Tame (twice), Kara Malins, Megan Stanley, Josh Walker, Ellen Price, Frances Goss, Sian Morris, the 10yr girls freestyle relay team of Castle, Morris, Price and Kelly Greener and the 10 members of the freestyle canon team.

  Well done to all the swimmers who swam, many of whom gained third and fourth places and especially to 3 swimmers for whom it was their first Sharks Gala, Alex Callaghan, Hannah Anderson and Jack Leeson. All in all a great nights swimming by all the swimmers with 27 personal bests in the first gala of the new season.
