Stratford Sharks ASC

 Nuneaton Open Meet April 2008

  The Nuneaton meet always attracts top quality swimmers from around the country and this year was no exception. Leicester Penguins and Nova Centurion sent large teams of swimmers. Entry into this competition was difficult and with some swimmers failing to get in the standard of swimming was top class. The Shark’s swim team sent ten swimmers and all swam extremely well, most of them gaining personal bests in the process


  The stars of the meet had to be Joe Evans and Becky Tame. Evans had a superb 200m freestyle winning the event in a personal best, club record and National Qualifying Time. Tame followed this up with another superb piece of swimming in the 200m freestyle recording a personal best and a Midland Youth Qualifying Time she narrowly missed the MYQT in the 100m freestyle and 200 IM. Evans showed what a dominant force he his by setting further bests in a further six events and another club record in the 100m freestyle. He was placed in the top five in all his events including three firsts.


  Emma Bysouth was again very busy and achieved another personal best in the 200m Freestyle along with Alex Helliwell and Matthew Newman. Helliwell also recorded another personal best in the 200 IM and PB’s in all his other swims showing how much he has improved over the last year. Newman swam well in the 100m fly again setting a personal best.


  Lucy Tame set personal bests in all three of her events; she knocked a massive 5 seconds off her 200m backstroke in a superb piece of swimming. Her Backstroke feat was bettered by Edward Caswell who knocked a massive 25 seconds off his 100m time and showed how much he has improved in this event. Josh walker had a busy meeting and set a personal best in the 200mIM. Eleri Williams set a further two personal bests in the 100m freestyle and 200m breaststroke. Joshua Newman gave a good account and showed promise for the future. Emma White finished fifth in the 100m freestyle and won the 200m breaststroke in confident style. Another good showing by Stratford Sharks saw over 50% of their swims record personal bests.
