The second round of the junior league took place on the 10th May at Leamington. This was another tough test against two of the strongest junior teams in this league. Late illness depleted the 9yr old girls however Annie Cox, Kate Hewlett, Sasha Mitchell all swam well and all achieved personal bests in their races. The 9yr old boys welcomed newcomer Ianto Davies to the team and what an impact he made winning both the freestyle and backstroke events in convincing style. Davies was joined by Jonathon Furey, Christian Clements and Oliver Quinn to take 2nd place in the Medley relay. Furey and Gregor Kelling achieved personal bests in their individual swims. The ten yr old girls and boys had a tough time although personal bests were set by Isabella Wright, Joshua Martindale, Molly Wright and Jack Leeson. The 11yr girls missing Elle Price due to a broken finger showed grit and determination with Lucy Castle winning the backstroke and being placed third in the freestyle. Megan Pashley fought hard for 4th place in the breaststroke. The Medley relay team of Pashley, Sophie Reynolds, Eleri Williams and Sophie Warden were rewarded with a 4th place. The 11yr old boys, one of the strongest age groups, had some tough swims but all swam extremely well and achieved two second places in both the Medley and freestyle relays. Andrew Morley, Matt Newman, Sandy Forysiak and Ed Caswell all picked up valuable points Morley took 2nd place in the Backstroke in a personal best, Newman grabbed a fine 3rd place also in a personal best and Caswell a super 2nd in the breaststroke. Newman and Forysiak also took fine 4th places in the 12 yr old age category. The 12yr old girls fought hard for their points and Lucy Tame was rewarded with a personal best and 4th place in the backstroke she also achieved a personal best in the freestyle. Laura Bryan swam a super race to take 3rd in the breaststroke also in a personal best time. Gwennan Williams joined Tame and Bryan and Castle for the Medley Relay where they finished 4th and Warden replaced Castle in the freestyle team in which they also finished in 4th place. The 12yr old Boys relays of Daniel Siviter, Alex Callaghan, Morley and Newman achieved a 3rd place in both the freestyle and Medley relay. Siviter finished fourth in the backstroke in a personal best. The mixed freestyle relay comprising of two swimmers in each age group finished 4th the team was made up from Hewlett, Davies, Wright, Martindale, Castle, Caswell, Tame and Siviter. The final points showed despite some good swims the team could only manage fifth on the night behind Leamington, Worcester, Northgate and Orion. The final round takes place at the end of June, with everything still to swim for to avoid relegation.
