| British University Swimming Championships 2009 |
Stratford Sharks swimmer Emma White travelled to Sheffield at the weekend to compete in the British Universities Long Course Championships. This was a big step up for Emma who is now studying at Loughborough University and swimming alongside the best in the country. Not to be fazed, Emma swam a lifetime best in her first event, the 50m breaststroke to take the bronze medal behind former British and World record holder Zoe Baker. This fine start gave Emma confidence going into the 200m event and on this occasion she went one better, securing the silver medal in another lifetime best that will qualify her to swim in the World Championship Trials in March. To finish off a fine weekend, Emma then added a third medal in the 100m breaststroke event, taking bronze in a season’s best time.
