A large squad of Stratford Sharks competed in the Coventry & District Secondary Championships at The Pingles Pool, Nuneaton. Some fantastic swimming over the weekend saw 22 Gold, 15 Silver & 22 Bronze medals won from the swimmers ranging in age from 9 to 15 years. In the youngest 9 year age group, William Foster was the top performer for the Sharks taking gold in the 50m Fly and 100m Individual Medley (IM) both in new age group club records and silver in the 50m Freestyle. Another gold went to Olga Hall in the 50m Backstroke who also took bronze in the 100m IM, Ysabelle Caswell won 2 medals, silver in the 50m Breaststroke and bronze in the 50m Freestyle. Further medals in this age group went to Kathryn Lythgo silver in the 50m Backstroke and Charlotte Cox bronze in the 50m Breaststroke. Honours in the 10 year age group went to Joshua Martindale who took a medal of each colour, gold in the 50m Freestyle, silver in the 100m IM and bronze in the 50m Fly. The other medallist in this age group Elinor Bird added to the gold count in the 50m Breaststroke. Another gold came in the 11 years 100m Fly for Lucy Castle with Alice Quin taking a silver and bronze in the 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke Aleksander Forysiak (12) is showing great promise in the sprint events with multiple gold medal swims taking the top position in the 50m & 100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke & Breaststroke, adding a silver in the 50m Fly. In a very competitive age group, Andrew Morley added another 4 medals to Stratford’s tally, gold in the 100 Backstroke, silver in the 50m Backstroke and bronze in the 50m & 100m Freestyle. James Wimbury made it 6 gold medals from the 12 year old boys in the 100m Fly. For the girls in this age group, Ellen Price and Megan Pashley took bronze medals in 50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke respectively. In the 13 year age group, Josh Walker and Jacob Humphries took a fantastic total of 15 top 3 positions between them. Walker took 4 gold’s in the 50m & 100m Freestyle and 50m & 100m Backstroke, silver in the 100m Breaststroke and bronze in the 50m Fly and 50m Breaststroke, Humphreys taking gold in the 50m Fly, silvers in the 50m Freestyle, Backstroke & Breaststroke and bronze in the 100m Breaststroke, Fly, Backstroke & Freestyle. Lucy Tame took the number of medals for the 13 year old to 19 taking silver in the 50m Freestyle and bronze in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle & Fly. In the oldest age group, 14/over girls and 15/over boys, Becky Tame equalled the highest gold tally for the Sharks with four in the 100m, 200m & 400m Freestyle and 200 IM, taking her medals to seven with silver in the 50m Freestyle and 50m & 200m Breaststroke. Further well deserved medals in this age group went Sarah Peacop who took gold in the 50m Fly and bronze in the 50m Freestyle and Joshua Newman three bronze, 50m & 100m Breaststroke and 400m Freestyle.
