 Sharks race to win Mercian League Round 2

  Stratford Sharks A & B teams competed at Cheslyn Hay in round 2 of the Mercian League on Saturday. The A team romped to a convincing win of 11 points over Solihull on the night with the B team coming 4th. The evening started well with Charli Cassidy-Morris & Robert Jolly both taking 2nd in the Open 100m I.M.


  Getting off to a positive start was a good moral boost as the A team then went on to gain 17 1st places. The 10yr & 14yr girls relay teams picking up 1st place in both the freestyle and medley relays the teams were made up of Imogen Cork, Lydia Ratcliffe, Frances Goss and Lily Russell-Wilks for the 10yrs and Charli & Fran cassidy-Morris, Caroline Cardwell and Alice Walters making up the 14yrs.


  The boys 14yrs Medley team took 1st place with Gavin Smith, Aaron Robinson, David Jolly & Tom Pilling having a convincing swim. In the individual Open age group Robert Jolly was 1st in the 100m Fly and 100m Backstroke, David Woollaston also acheived two 1st places with 1st place in the 100m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle.


  For the 10yr boys Aaron Brough also got two 1st in the 50m Free & 1 length Fly. Harry Frankland had a fast finish to get 1st in the 10yrs 50m Breast with Tom Pilling taking 1st place in the 100m Fly & 2nd in the 100m Free.


  For the girls only Helen Livesey acheived two individual 1st spots in the Open 100m Free & 100m Fly, but there were excellent performances from Fran Cassidy-Morris who got 1st place in the 14yrs 100m Breaststroke and then swam up to get 2nd in the Open age group, Hattie Beaumont also took a 1st & 2nd in 100m Free and 100m Breast with Caroline Cardwell swimming a personal best to get 1st in the 14yrs 100m Fly and 2nd in the 100m Freestyle. For the 10yr girls Imogen Cork had a good win in the 50m Back.


  There were several individual 2nd places on the night for Georgina Harrington, Jack Pilling, David Jolly, Ben Brough, Victoria Carvell, Lily Russell-Wilks & Louisa Heyworth. For the B team Rebecca Tame, Josh Walker, Matt Williams & Sam Nelson-Brice also took 2nd places in individual events.


  On the night everyone gave 110 per cent as usual, well done to all swimmers from both teams.
