 Rotherham Metros Short Course Gala

Three Stratford Shark swimmers made their way up north to attend the Rotherham Metro short course swimming competition held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Claire Bassinder, swimming in the 14 year old age group, had an exceptionally good day, winning the 50m free, 100m free, 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly races, two in personal best times, and gaining a 3rd place medal in the 100m backstroke, showing her all round abilities on the day.

Katie Pavel, swimming in the 15 year old age category, also had very rewarding swims, recording no less than 4 personal best times out of 5 swims, winning the 100m backstroke, coming 2nd in both the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly and finishing 3rd in the 100m freestyle races.

Aaron Robinson, aged 13, was the lone boy to make this trip, but he too came home with 3rd place medals in the 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle races.

This was a very well run and fast paced gala which hopefully more Stratford Shark swimmers will think about entering next year.
